When the book does not add up

A printed book can have a mistake in it. Sometimes a figure on a page of the DAR does not agree with the sums around it, and RateAnalyser does not hide that. It shows the book's own rate first, shows our working beside it, and asks you to check the published book.

What the page shows

  1. A yellow badge, The book's own figures do not add up here, sits beside the name of the item. On most of these items our working still lands on the rate the book prints, and the page works like any other.
  2. On a few items our working lands on a different rate. The headline then reads Book rate per sqm with the rate the book prints, and Our working beside it.
  3. A yellow band under it tells you the page prints one rate and our working comes to another, and asks you to check the published book before you use the rate in a bill.
  4. If you change a rate on such a page, the new rate is compared with our working from before your change and not with the book's rate, so the book's mistake is never counted as your change.
The top of the free page of an item where the book's own figures do not add up, with the yellow badge The book's own figures do not add up here beside the name and the rate the book prints
An item whose printed figures do not add up, as its free page shows it, with the yellow badge beside the name. The Delhi Analysis of Rates 2023 and the Delhi Schedule of Rates 2023 are published by CPWD, and the copyright in them belongs to CPWD.

Things to know

  • We show the difference and we do not correct the book. Check the published book before you use the rate in a bill.
  • 3 items, 14.72X, 16.81X and 16.81Y, we do not work out again, because our arithmetic turns them into a figure that is not a rate. The page shows the rate the book prints with the reason, and it has no Open free button because nothing would open.
  • An item that is priced from one of them, like 14.72 from 14.72X, keeps the rate the book prints, and its line opens only to the same reason. Follow a line to its item

If you see this message

The book’s own figures do not add up here as a yellow badge

Some figures printed on this page do not agree with each other. Check the published book before you use the rate.

because the book's own figures do not add up on this page in a yellow band, after the rate the page prints and the rate our working gives

The book's arithmetic gives a different rate from the one it prints. Check the published book before you use this rate in a bill.

We cannot work this rate out again as a heading over the reason

The reason is under it, and it ends by asking you to use the rate printed in the book for that item.

The book works this page out backwards, for a quantity taken away rather than added the reason for 14.72X and 16.81X

The book subtracts on this page, and we cannot follow that. Use the printed rate.

The cost line printed on this page is about ten times away from what the steps above it the reason for 16.81Y

The cost line printed in the book is far from what its own steps add up to. Use the printed rate.
